Apliki Cu was shot in 2021 at the abandoned Apliki copper mine in Cyprus. Together my mother and I express intergenerational sorrow for the damaged land, acknowledging that our ancestors opened this mine 100 years ago. We mourn the toxic state of our surroundings and breath the possibility of land rehabilitation through acid balance and planting trees.
I created a 35 limited-edition zine to accompany apliki Cu. Design by Vanessa Dahbour.
